our story

untamedLUXE started out of love and a need for clean products in my home. i have always been a candle lover and if you have been to my home, you know i always have at least one candle burning. in november of 2019, my husband was diagnosed with cancer and it completely changed my view on products i use in and around my home. i started doing a ton of research, and it turns out the pretty candles you buy at big box stores aren't so good for you. most candles are made with paraffin wax, which i never thought was bad for you since i always get it during a pedicure. so naturally, i was shocked when i found out the candles i was burning (almost daily) were releasing carcinogenic soot when they are burned. companies also use wicks that contain metal to make production easier, which also releases a ton of toxins and carcinogens into the air we breathe. after I found all this out, i set out on a mission to make the cleanest candles possible and that's how untamedLUXE was born. 

after hours of research, i decided i would only use 100% soy bean wax, which is completely natural and made in the USA, so it helps support our American farmers. while it is a little tougher to work with than paraffin wax and other wax blends, it is as clean and eco-friendly as you can possibly get. i use pure cotton braided wicks, which helps to prevent smoke and soot buildup, and our fragrances are natural and always phthalate-free.

so i placed a huge order and got to work...i put in countless hours melting, blending, pouring and testing what seems like hundreds of different fragrance blends and getting my method down. when i finally figured out how to properly pour my candles, i gave out samples to family and friends, but batch number one was a bust. the fragrance didn't fill up the space like i wanted it to, so it was back to the drawing board. after several times of adjusting my method with no results, i almost wanted to give up. i kept pushing and restarted by completely overhauling my process, and this time it was exactly what i wanted...candles that give off a ton of fragrance (because nobody wants a weak candle...right?)

i needed a name, but was completely stuck because i needed a word that all together meant natural and untouched. so i played with the idea of using 'native' or 'organic', but it just didn't fit my vision. and one day, it dawned on me that 'untamed' summed up what i was going for...untamed luxury to be exact. our name describes natural fragrances bottled up, just as nature intended. 

so there you have it...that's the story of untamedLUXE. can't wait to show you what else we have in store and i hope you love our products just as much as we do! i promise to always keep our products as clean and as close to nature as possible....just as it should be.
